The Knot Beach Club - 2016 #theknotrockschicago
What an amazing event I had the INCREDIBLE HONOR & OPPORTUNITY to work with the ladies at Big City Bride, The Knot and many other amazing wedding professionals to make this a one-of-a-kind event!
A BIG THANKS to The Knot for throwing this event and to Being Joy Photography for her talents and sharp eye for the amazing images from the party!
The Beach Club logo, signage, the #theknotrockschicago beverage napkins, drink straws with the flags, and the art you see was all created by Maxe Designs for this event.
It was truly an honor to be part of this AMAZING event with an extremely talented group of professionals! Thank you all!

What do you get when you couple an artist with a graphic designer? Molly Axe.
Ten years ago, Axe created a business she knew she would love, Maxe Designs.
Maxe Designs can fulfill all of your wedding stationery needs—from invitations to reception menus to thank you cards. But Axe steps it up a notch. Not only does she design unique stationery, but she also incorporates one-of-a-kind artwork into orders as well.
Axe begins each project with a blank piece of paper. After she discusses the couples’ ideas for their wedding day, she goes to her drawing board to create an original piece of artwork to incorporate into their stationery.
“You will not find an invitation where it’s ‘insert name,’ ‘insert name’ done at Maxe Designs,” owner Axe says.
Axe’s recent work includes a wedding with a carousel theme for which Axe created a custom admission style ticket response card with a smaller ticket attached to the couple’s favors. Her artwork was a carousel horse she used on their thank you cards.
Axe tries to “give [couples] art they can afford,” and she carries that affordability into her business model. She says she is willing to work with anyone’s budget. “I can give suggestions for ways to cut their costs down, brainstorm and be as flexible possible . . . I will do whatever it takes to get it done,” Axe says.
She has worked with budgets from as little as $150 (minus postage) to upwards of $2,000, and, as an extra thank you for the couples’ business, she provides the thank you cards at cost.
Axe offers a few additional amenities as well. Regardless of her original quote, the couple only pays for the number of invitations they need. She will also matte and frame the couples’ custom artwork, which she says parents often like to purchase as a wedding present.
She has worked with couples across the country and prints in house. She recommends couples allow three to four weeks for their order to be completed, which includes printing time.
“I take a lot of pride in what I do and I want to do all I can for my clients,” Axe says. “I want your stationery to be as unique as you are.”
